Life on the Edge: Romania’s Forgotten Dogs

Lost & Alone
On the streets of Romania, thousands of dogs face a daily struggle to survive. In a country where many face economic challenges pets are often left to roam, abandoned, un-neutered, and unseen. The result is heartbreaking: generations of unwanted puppies born into hunger, sickness, and fear. With shelters overcrowded and underfunded, dogs who are not adopted within days face death.
These animals aren't just statistics. They are mothers who’ve watched their litters die cold and alone, puppies whose legs have never known safety, and loyal companions thrown away like trash. Their suffering is silent, but we can be their voice.

Hope Begins Here
We refuse to look away and since 2018, we’ve been on the ground near Bucharest, rescuing street dogs and giving them a second chance. Our shelter, filled with love and life, houses up to 150 dogs at any time—many of them starving, sick, or injured upon arrival. For the youngest, it's often their only chance at survival.
Every day, our team starts at early to clean, feed, and comfort these animals. We offer not just food and medicine but warmth, kindness, and a sense of belonging. Puppies play. Older dogs learn to trust again. Some find new families with our adoption programme. Others simply find peace in our loving environment where they can live for life in safety and happiness.

A Better Future
In spring 2025, we took a bold step forward: beginning construction of one of Europe’s most modern dog sanctuaries. Spread across 5 hectares, Liska Park in Romania will house a new shelter which will give up to 200 dogs the space, stimulation, and care they deserve. From specially designed puppy socialization zones to peaceful retreats for shy souls. We will also open our doors to Romanian school children, teaching compassion and empathy where change begins.
We’re not just rescuing dogs, we’re transforming lives, creating a future where these loyal animals are valued, protected, and loved.
