We have rescued over 700 horses, many elderly or chronically ill, who can now be given a second chance at life. They come from hardship: no longer able to race, breed, or serve, they were cast aside as “useless.” Yet every horse deserves comfort, companionship, and care in its twilight years.
We believe in honouring their lives with dignity, not abandonment. The “Quality of Life” project, developed with leading veterinary universities, helps us better understand the evolving needs of aging horses—physically, emotionally, and ethically. Your support helps us offer these animals peace, love, and proper care when they need it most.
Care & Heal
Horses are more than companions—they're vital partners in preserving biodiversity and healthy ecosystems. Through sustainable grazing and careful pasture management, our horses actively regenerate soil, maintain meadows, and support pollinator habitats. Many conventional pastures are designed for cattle, not equines.
That's why we’re leading research into hay quality, parasite control, and natural horsekeeping to align animal welfare with environmental stewardship. The “Quality of Life” project is not only about caring—it’s about learning, sharing, and leading. In collaboration with the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and the Sandgrueb Foundation, we’re conducting groundbreaking research on equine aging, gut health, ethics, and environmental impact. Our Gut Aiderbichl Academy and public outreach programs turn scientific insight into practical guidance for horse owners and land stewards worldwide.
