Spanish Galgos
Rehabilitation

A Cruel Reality
Every year, tens of thousands of Galgos—gentle Spanish greyhounds—are bred for one purpose: to win. Forced into brutal hare-chasing competitions, these elegant, sensitive dogs live lives defined by exploitation. The strongest may survive one hunting season, but the “losers” face unimaginable suffering. Many are tortured, starved, abandoned, or killed in ways too horrific to describe.
These voiceless victims are discarded once they’re no longer useful. Trained under extreme cruelty, some are tethered to cars to “build stamina.” If they fall behind or fail to perform, they face unthinkable ends—thrown into wells, poisoned, or left to starve in dark, overcrowded bunkers. In some of the most sadistic cases, they’re hanged in a slow, torturous method called "playing the piano," their feet barely brushing the ground.

A Voice And Future
We refuse to let this suffering go unseen. In 2023, we began our mission to rescue and protect Galgos, joining forces with animal welfare groups across Spain. Through these partnerships, we’ve already welcomed our first rescued Galgos and Podencos—traumatized, injured, yet still yearning for love.
We’ve also taken action on the ground in Spain, launching an information center and sanctuary to educate the next generation. By teaching children and young people about the injustice faced by these dogs, we are planting the seeds for lasting change. Only when the public knows the truth can we challenge Spain’s powerful hunting lobby and demand legislation that protects these animals. Even after Spain’s first national animal welfare law was passed in 2023, Galgos were outrageously exempted—still seen as tools, not lives.

Never Forgotton
We are committed to giving every Galgo we can a second chance—whether that means offering them a permanent home at our sanctuary or finding them a loving family who will finally show them what kindness feels like. We know that each dog we rescue is just one among thousands, but for that dog, it means the world. Galgos like those we’ve already brought home are healing from their trauma—step by step, tail wag by tail wag.
Our goal is clear: rescue, rehabilitate, and raise awareness until this cruelty ends. But we can't do it alone.

We Need Your Help!
With your help, we can fund the transport of more dogs out of danger, provide medical care, food, and shelter, and support our public awareness efforts both in Spain and across Europe. Together, we can give these animals the safety and dignity they’ve been denied for so long.
